Can you breastfeed in public in Dubai?

The UAE law on breastfeeding
In 2014 the United Arab Emirates passed a law that requires mothers to breastfeed their children until they are two years old. The law came as a clause added to the children's rights law. This is inspired by both the Quranic teachings that the UAE as a Muslim country follows, as well as by the most recent recommendations by UNICEF and the World Health Organization.
The UAE, an Arab and Muslim country is also a melting pot of many cultures and religions. It is also one of the most family and children-friendly countries on the planet, so anything that is in the best interest of moms, children, and families is welcome with warm open arms.
The UAE labor law guarantees to breastfeed mothers, one or two breaks during the workday dedicated to breastfeeding. This is a great relief for breastfeeding moms who choose either to add those breaks at the start, or end of their workday and work fewer hours, or take quick leaves and breastfeed their little ones if their houses are close to work or are in their work-designated childcare facility.

Can you breastfeed in public in Dubai?
No law prevents breastfeeding in public in Dubai. However, modesty is always encouraged while breastfeeding in public in Dubai, so if you are at the beach, or in a restaurant it is best to use a nursing cover while you breastfeed your baby. One of the many great things about living in Dubai is that many malls, restaurants, and cafes, have designated areas where moms can breastfeed in private. If those areas are not available you can always nurse your baby in a prayer room, regardless of your religion. You will always be welcomed with smiles and looks of support and encouragement, and maybe one or two pieces of motherhood advice.
